EC declares 60 more candidates valid

The Election Commission (EC) approved 60 more appeals on Thursday, the sixth day of hearings against the Returning Officer's decisions on nomination papers.

A total of 104 appeals were heard during the day.

Of these, 60 appeals against the cancellation of nomination papers were approved, while 29 were rejected. The commission also rejected five appeals challenging the acceptance of nomination papers.

Ten appeals were kept pending for further consideration.

The hearing of another 40 appeals is scheduled to be held today (Friday) from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
