KHULNA, Nov 17 (BSS): Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Prof Mia Golam Parwar has said his party is determined to establish people's rights and build a happy as well as prosperous Bangladesh.
He made the remarks while speaking at a programme to distribute cash among the poor people, who are suffering from waterlogging, in the Saravita area under Dumuria upazila in Khulna on Sunday .
Mentioning that removing waterlogging is not possible within a day, Parwar, a former lawmaker, said an elected government can solve the problem.
Awami fascists and their cohorts are responsible for waterlogging, he said, adding they were netting and farming fish in the canals, beels, and rivers by blocking water flow illegally, triggering water stagnation.
Parwar said Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami does politics for people as they committed to building a discrimination-free Bangladesh.
He also said Jamaat-e-Islami always stands beside the country's people, so the party extends help to the hapless and destitute people during any disaster.

The interim government should take effective steps to solve the waterlogging, he added.
Ameer of Khulna district unit Jamaat-e-Islami Moulana Emran Hussain, Secretary Munsi Mizanur Rahman, and leaders of Dumuria upazila unit Jamaat were present.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Maulana Muhammad Shahjahan has called upon all to come forward to forge national unity to turn the country into a discrimination-free Bangladesh.
"To build the discrimination-free Bangladesh of young generation, all should come forward for national unity, irrespective of any party affiliation," he said.
The Jamaat leader made this call while addressing the workers' conference of the party's Hnila Union branch in Teknaf Upazila of Cox's Bazar on Sunday.
Awami League (AL) has corrupted every sector of the country during its 15 years of misrule, making the governance a one-party based system, he said, adding that it had taken away the minimum democratic rights of the people by governing the country in a dictatorial manner.
