Amite shines on Day 2

Sylhet batter Amite Hasan struck his second successive century in the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL) to keep him in the centre of discussion, reports BSS.

Amite who has been scoring runs continuously but silently over the last three years hogged the headline for the first time when he hit a double century in the previous match.

Following it up with a century now further bolstered his case for the national call up. But more importantly his century edged Sylhet closer to another victory in the ongoing NCL.

Elsewhere Dhaka and Chattogram are also on course of a victory.

Sylhet vs Metro

Amite Hasan continued his rich vein of form to help Sylhet close in on a victory against Dhaka Metro at Khulna Stadium.

Amite who hammered a double century in the previous game, this time hit 101 as Sylhet were wrapped up for 376, taking a 246-run lead in the first innings.

Metro who were bowled out for just 130 in the first innings, reached 49-4 at stumps. They still need 197 runs to make Sylhet batting for the second time in the match.

Resuming the day at 137-2, inform Amite led the side astutely to further make his case stronger for a national call up.

Asadulla Galib, who also hit a century in the previous match, took the onus after Amite's dismissal. He this time scored 56.

Amite and Mubin Hasan Dishan who made 43, added 106 runs for the third wicket to lay a good platform the side.

Later, Galib and Tofael Ahmed (47 not out) helped the side propel past 350-run mark.

Arif Amed claimed 4-77 for Metro while Abu Haider Rony grabbed 3-103.

Fast bowlers Syed Khaled Ahmed and Rejaur Rahman Raja bagged two wickets each to derail Metro in the second innings and helped Sylhet edge closer to victory.

Khulna vs Dhaka

Khulna tasted a sensational collapse in second innings today, setting Dhaka Division a target of only 104 runs to register their first victory in the ongoing NCL.

Dhaka earlier drew all of their past four matches in the country's first class cricket tournament.

Resuming the Day 2 at 58-3, Dhaka were bowled out for just 160, conceding a 12-run lead as Khulna put up 172 in its first innings.

But the slim lead mattered little as Khulna were bundled out for just 91 runs in the second innings. Umpires called stumps when Khulna's innings came to an end.

Imrul Kayes who announced his retirement from Test and first class cricket after this match made just 1 in his last innings. He earlier scored just 16 in the first innings for Khulna.

Young pacer Anamul Haque dismantled Khulna with 4-17, including the wicket of Kayes. Mahfujur Rabby played a second fiddle to him with 3-9 while Sumon Khan who scalped 6-50 in the first innings, this time took 2-27 to end with eight wickets.

Amit Mojumder top-scored for Khulna with 38 [not out] while No.8 batter Masum Khan Tutul made next-best 14.

Earlier, Ariful Islam made 62 alone in Dhaka's 160 all out in the first innings.

Chattogram vs Rajshahi

Pacer Ahmed Sharif returned figures of 5-47 as Chattogram sensed a victory against Rajshahi Division at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

Thanks to Sharif's bowling, Chattogram had reduced Rajshahi to 202-8 at stumps on Day 2. Rajshahi are now ahead by just 62 runs with two wickets at hands.

Chattogram earlier added 79 runs to their overnight 173-8 to be all out for 252 runs, taking a 140-run lead. Rajshahi were bowled out for just 112 in their first innings.

Shamim Patwari hammered 84 to help Chattogram take their lead past 100 after they resumed the innings today.

Sabbir Hosan and Wasi Siddique took three wickets apiece for Rajshahi.

Rangpur vs Barishal

Abdullah Al Mamun hit 65 as Rangpur Division reached 218-5 against Barishal on Day 2 at Rajshahi Stadium.

Resuming the day at 266-7, Barishal earlier were able to add 70 runs before being all out for 336. Rangpur are now trailing by 118 runs but with five wickets at hands, they still have the chance to topple Barishal's total.

Skipper Tanvir Islam scored 52 runs for Barishal to be the fourth batters of the side to bring up half-century in the first innings. Earlier, Iftekhar Hossain Ifti (70), Salman Emon (67) and Tasamul Haque (51) brought up the fifties on Day 1 for Barishal.

Abdullah Al Mamun and Ariful Haque took two wickets for Rangpur.

Mamun then struck 65 to help the side make a solid start. Naeem Islam scored 40.

Ariful Haque was batting on 28 with Tanbir Hayder on 11 when the bails were drawn for Day 2.
