FE REPORT | December 18, 2025 00:00:00

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has introduced body-worn cameras for staff involved in baggage handling at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka, aiming to strengthen security, transparency and accountability in ground handling operations.

Under the initiative, traffic staff responsible for baggage handling and transportation have been equipped with body cameras to monitor the movement of luggage throughout the handling process.

According to the airline, the system will allow continuous monitoring of baggage from the aircraft hold to the conveyor belt and onward to passengers for Biman's domestic flights, as well as for international airlines that receive ground handling services from the national flag carrier.

As the ground handling agent at HSIA, Biman said the technology-driven measure is intended to ensure a uniform standard of baggage security across all airlines it serves.

The airline said the use of body cameras is expected to enhance operational transparency, improve accountability and increase passenger confidence.

In the event of baggage-related complaints, recorded footage will be reviewed to verify incidents and facilitate timely and credible resolution, Biman added.

The airline reiterated its commitment to adopting modern technology and professional practices to improve service quality, with passenger safety and trust remaining top priorities.
