Gulzar Ahmed elected as vice chairman, Standard Bank

Gulzar Ahmed, director of Standard Bank, and head of the country's renowned jewellery company Apan Jewellers, has been elected as the vice chairman of the bank at the 421st meeting of the board of directors of Standard Bank, held recently, according to a press release.
Gulzar Ahmed was born in a respectable Muslim family of Golapganj Upazila, Sylhet. After completing his education, he took over his family business Apan Jewellers. The Apan family has established nine jewellery showrooms in different parts of Dhaka with their combined efforts.
As a prominent business personality, Mr. Ahmed has climbed to the pinnacle of success through honesty, dedication and professionalism in his 44-year colorful business career, read the statements.
He served as the acting president of Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) for a long time. He is also the chairman of Unique Gold Private Limited, first vice president of Bangladesh Jewellery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BJMEA), member of general body of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, member of the executive council of Baitul Mukarram Business Group, chief advisor of Apanscape and advisor of Gulshan DNCC Market Committee.
