Mercantile Bank has promoted Tapash Chandra Paul and Shah Md. Sohel Khurshid to the position of deputy managing director.
The new role recognised their long-standing contributions, leadership excelence, and strategic impact on the bank's growth and governance. Prior to the promotion, they were holding the position of SEVP of the bank, according to a press release.
Dr. Tapash Chandra Paul also served as CFO of the bank. With over 25 years of diversified experience in the banking sector, he has played a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy, risk governance and institutional research framework of Bangladesh. He got a B.Com (Honors) and M.Com from Dhaka University.
He has an MBA and earned his PhD for his research on "Strategic Management of Commercial Banks in Bangladesh."
Shah Md. Sohel Khurshid brings extensive operational and leadership experience, having successfully served as chief credit officer, head of the corporate banking division and head of different branches of Mercantile Bank. He joined the bank in December 1999. He began his banking career in 1991 as a probationary officer at United Commercial Bank and later served at Dhaka Bank.
