MTB disburses loan to tribal farmers

Mutual Trust Bank PLC has disbursed loan to 55 tribal farmers at Modhupur, Tangail, recently, aiming to promote sustainable agriculture and enhance socio-economic development of indigenous community.
Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB) has recently disbursed loan to 55 tribal farmers at Modhupur, Tangail, a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening financial inclusion, promoting sustainable agriculture and enhancing socio-economic development of indigenous community.
The farmers were given loan at 7% interest rate under the Bangladesh Bank's refinance scheme for '10/50/100-taka account holders' to empower marginal community to change their livelihood.
Md Iqbal Mohasin, Director, Financial Inclusion Department of Bangladesh Bank, was present as the chief guest. He handed over the cheques among 55 Garo farmers and appreciated the initiative of MTB in strengthening the Financial inclusivity in indigenous region.
Chowdhury Akhtar Asif, AMD & GCRO of MTB, presided over the event.
Speaking at the event, Mr Asif stressed the need for sustainable agriculture and economy to build a solid socio-economical ecosystem in Bangladesh.
He also announced that MTB will develop a strong cluster in this region in the coming days to have a visible impact on this area.
