Abahani Limited emerged joint champions in the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League beating holders Usha KC by 3-0 goal in the last super league match at the Maulana Bhasani National Stadium in the city Sunday, reports UNB.
Pushkar Khisha Mimo scored two field goals in the 56th and 69th minutes while Kasif Ali netted the other goal for Abahani Limited early in the 7th minute.
With the day's win, popular Dhanmondi outfit Abahani Limited not only took revenge of their defeat against the holders in the first phase league, but also emerged joint champions in the league with old Dhaka outfit Usha KC
After the day's match, both Abahani Limited and Usha KC secured 24 points from nine matches with eight wins and one loss, and needed a title deciding play-off match as per the league by-laws.
However, the league committee in an emergency meeting Sunday in presence of the representatives of the two teams declared Abahnai Limited and Usha KC joint champions as per the appeal by both the clubs.
Earlier, in the day's other super league match, Sadharan Bima KS beat Ajax SC by 5-3 goals at the same venue.
Afsar struck twice while Nizam, Salman and Rafi scored one goal each for the winners. Rajon netted two goals and Sajib one for the losers.
