Dhaka Abahani Limited took the solo lead in the Walton Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League with all-win record beating Brothers Union Club by convincing 136 runs in the 3rd round match at the Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium (KSOAS) in Fatullah on Tuesday, reports UNB.
In the day's other 3rd round matches, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club outplayed Kalabagan KC by eight wickets at BKSP ground-4 while Khelaghar SKS tasted the first win in the league beating Gazi Group Cricketers by five wickets at BKSP ground-3 in Savar on Tuesday.
After the day's 3rd round matches, Dhaka Abahani Limited topped the list securing full six points from straight three matches, Prime Doleshwar SC advanced to the 3rd slot securing four points while Brothers Union went down to 4th place with four points.
Sent in to bat first, Abahani made a flying start scoring 84 runs in the opening stand, but finally they were all out for 266 runs in stipulated 50 overs. Captain of Bangladesh Under-19 team Saif Hasan, who opened the Abahani innings, hammered a century scoring 108 runs off 132 deliveries hitting six fours and five sixes and was adjudged man of the match.
Besides, national opener Anamul Haque contributed 48-ball 41 runs, one down Nazmul Hossain Shanta made 38 runs off 43 balls, national all-rounder Nasir Hossain hit 26-ball 31 runs and Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe added 21-ball 16 runs with a six.
Khaled Ahmed and Rony Hossain grabbed two wickets each conceding 44 and 66 runs respectively.
In reply, Brothers Union Club, which shared the top slot with all-win run till the 2nd round, were bundled out cheaply for 130 runs in just 35.4 overs to concede the first defeat in the league. Number six batsman Yasir Ali (35), opener Mizanur Rahman (24), national coloured opener Junaid Siddique (24), Wahidul Alam (15) were the notable scorers for Gopibagh outfit Brothers.
National all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz and national cricketer Sunzamul Islam claimed three wickets each giving away 24 and 28 runs respectively. At BKSP ground-3 in Savar, sent in to bat first, Gazi Group Cricketers scored 247 runs for 5 in allocated 50 overs with former national-coloured opener Jahurul Islam making a century scoring 102 runs off 142 balls. Besides, Rajat Bhatia contributed not out 61 runs off 60 balls, featuring five fours and one six, top order national batsman Mominul Haque scored 47-ball 46 runs with six fours and one six, national opener Imrul Kayes made 22-ball 14 runs, including one four and a six and Zakir Ali made 18-ball 11 runs with one six. Rafsan Al Mahmud, Mohammad Saddam, Hasan Mahmud and Tanvir Islam claimed one wicket a piece. Chasing a moderate total, Khelaghar SKS reached their target scoring 249 runs for 5 in 48.3 overs, featuring two half centuries by Mahidul Islam Akon and Al Meraria.
One down Mahidul Islam Akon contributed 85 runs off 109 balls with the help of seven boundaries and four over boundaries to be adjudged man of the match while Al Meraria scored 50-ball 51 runs, featuring two fours and two sixes.
