Abahani Ltd sealed their second successive win in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) as they beat Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club by 8 wickets in a match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city Friday, reports UNB.
Abahani beat their arch-rivals Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) by 5 wickets in their first encounter Wednesday at the same venue.
Replying to Prime Doleshwar SC's 147 runs, Abahani reached the target for 2 in 37.2 overs riding on the opening partnership of 98 runs by Liton Kumar Das and Abdul Majid in 27.2 overs.
The opening pair was broken as Liton Kumar fell victim to an Elias Sunny delivery caught by Habibur Rahman on 98 runs off 111 balls with 14 fours and a six.
Abdul Majid scored 27 runs off 80 balls with three fours and was trapped leg before by Elias Sunny while PB Bandare Rajapakse and Rakibul remained not out on 19 and 1 runs respectively.
Skipper Elias Sunny took both the two wickets for 40 runs in 8 overs.
Earlier, sent in to bat first, Prime Doleshwar SC scored 147 for all in 48.4 overs.
Habibur Rahman scored the highest 41 runs facing 56 deliveries with six fours while Dawid Malan (27), Muktar Ali (19), opener Mehedi Maruf (18) and Elias Sunny (10) were the other double digit scorers for their side.
Nazmul Islam Apu grabbed three wickets for 22 runs in 5.4 overs while Al-Amin, Ziaur Rahman and Shuvashis Roy took two wickets each for 26, 26 and 34 runs respectively.
In the day's other matches of the league, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club beat Kalabagan Krira Chakra by a massive 122-run margin riding on Liam A Dawsonveer's century of 113 runs at BKSP ground-3 while Gazi Tank Cricketers won over Partex Sporting Club by 25 runs guided by their captain Rajin Saleh who made 105 runs at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
