Abahani earn win in BPL

Dhaka Abahani Limited recorded a 2-1 goal victory over Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) in the 2nd phase of Nitol Tata Bangladesh Premier Football League Thursday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city, reports BSS.
In the day's match, Abahani had chance to take the lead in the 25th minute but their Portuguese forward Soares' left footer shot went wide.
Forward Ali Akbar Kanon squandered an opportunity for Team BJMC in the 33rd minute when his shot missed the post on a low cross of Guineas forward from the right flank.
After the resumption, Abahani broke the deadlock in the 55th minute from a spot kick. Team BJMC goalie Arifuzzaman Hemel tackled down Abahani's Ghanaian forward Osei Morrison in the box and referee Bharat Chandra Goura whistled for penalty. Soares made no mistake to convert the spot kick (1-0).
Forward Shahedul Alam Shahed doubled the lead for Abahani in the 65th minute.
Soares sent a pass to Shaheed whose angular placing shot hit the side post crossed the goal line (2- 0).
Guinean forward Ismael Bangoura pulled one back for BJMC with a header capitalising on a free kick of Samson Illiasu at the stoppage time of the second half.
With the day's victory, the sky blue Dhanmondi "outfit" took their tally to 28 points from 14 matches while Team BJMC remained at their previous credit of 15 points from the same number of outings.
Earlier, in the first phase, Abahani edged past Team BJMC by a solitary goal.
