AFC Under-19 Oman taste first victory against Maldives

A 10-man Oman tasted the first victory in their 2nd match of the AFC Under-19 qualifiers crushing Maldives by 4-0 goals at Bangabandhu National Stadium Thursday afternoon, reports UNB. Oman was reduced to 10-man in the 23rd minute of the match as their defender Nadir Awadh Bashir roughly tackled onrushing Maldives forward Guraish at the top of the box and Hong Kong referee Ng Kai Lam gave Nadir marching order showing the red card. Khalid Khalifa broke the deadlock in the 31st minute, heading the ball home off a corner kick of Hatem Khamis who curved the ball from right flank (1-0). Hatem Khamis doubled the margin from a penalty. Oman was awarded a penalty in the 41st minute when Maldives defender Ihsan brought down Omani forward Saud Khamis in the danger zone and Hatem Khamis made no mistake to convert the spot kick to dominate first half by 2-0 goals. Mahmoud Mabrook scored the 3rd goal for Oman by placing the ball to the empty net in the 47th minute off a Saud Khamis pass (3-0). Substitute striker Mohammed Said Saud sealed the fate of the match scoring 4th goal, also with a penalty in the 86th minute (4-0). Oman got the 2nd penalty in the match when a Maldives defender fouled Mohammad Faraz Abduallah of Oman in the danger zone. Oman conceded 0-4 goals defeat against Saudi Arabia while Maldives lost to Bangladesh by 0-3 goals in their opening matches.
