CAIRO (AFP) - Al-Ahly of Egypt moved closer to a record third consecutive African Champions League title by outclassing Esperance of Tunisia 3-0 this weekend.
Goals by midfielder Mohamed Aboutraika, striker Flavio Amado and substitute Osama Hosny lifted the 'Red Devils' from Cairo to nine points in Group B, six more than second-placed Al-Hilal of Sudan.
Ahly opened their mini-league campaign with a 2-0 home victory over Hilal and defeated former champions ASEC Mimosas 1-0 in the Ivory Coast two weeks ago.
