Bangladesh Air Force crushed Armanitola Junior by 10-1 goals in the opening match of the Lyric Group Independence Day Hockey Competition that began Wednesday at the Moulana Bhasanai National Hockey Stadium in the city, reports UNB. Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education Ministry Rashed Khan Menon formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest. In the day's lone match, Mamun Hossain and Rumman Ali scored three goals each while Saiful Hasan, Morshedul Islam, Zahid and Moniruzzaman netted one goal apiece for the winners. Rakib netted the consolation goal for the losers. Today's matches: Bangladesh Army vs Rampura KC (2:45 pm), Wari Club vs Bangladesh Police (4:30 pm), both at the same venue.
