Akash, Labiba singles champions in School Table Tennis

Akash of Armanitola Govt. High School and Labiba of South Breeze School clinched the boys' and girls' singles titles of the Walton Smart TV Dhaka Metropolis School Table Tennis Tournament that concluded at the Shaheed Tajuddin Indoor Stadium in the city Wednesday, reports UNB.

In the finals, Akash beat Raihan of Ahmed Bowani Academy by straight 3-0 sets while Labiba defeated Urmi of Prayas by the same margin.

Communication Minister Obaidul Quader was the chief guest at the day's closing function and later he distributed the prizes.

Additional Director of the meet's sponsor Walton (RB Group) FM Iqbal Bin Anwar, national sports award winning TT player Mosadekul Haque Rochi and general secretary of Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation Zobera Rahman Linu were also present on the occasion.

Armanitola Govt. High School emerged champions in the boys' team event beating Saint Joseph High School by 3-1 sets while Sunnydale School clinched the girls' team crown defeating Prayas, also by 3-1 sets in the events finals.

Raiyan of Scholastica School was named as the promising player of boys' group while Rokeya Hossain Meem of Azimpur Girls High School was named the promising player of girls' group.
