Amal, Dipu, Prithul move to semis in men's singles

Three players -- top seed Amal Roy, Dipu Lal and Prithul Mandal -- moved to the semi-finals in men's singles of the Dhaka Open Tennis Competition winning their quarterfinal matches at the National Tennis Complex in Ramna in the city Monday, reports UNB.
Amal Roy of Bashundhara Club beat Laxman Lal of American Club 6-3, 6-2; Dipu Lal (Nordic Club) defeated Delwar Hossain (NTC) 7-5, 7-5; and Prithul Mandal (BKSP) beat Tazmul Hossain (BKSP) 6-4, 6-4.
In the boys' singles (16 years age group), Mofazzel Hossain, Hanif Munna and Sabbir qualified for the semi-finals after winning their quarterfinal matches.
In the girls' singles (16 yrs age group), Kibria Ayta Zaman Bhabna, Aachal, Anika and Tasnova won their respective quarterfinal matches Monday to reach the semis.
In the boys' singles (13 yrs age group), Rustam, Biplob Ram, Jamil and Raisul booked the semifinal berths in the event eliminating their respective rivals in the day's quarterfinals.
