Arambagh upset Muktijoddha Sangsad 2-1

Minnows Arambagh KS caused a big upset as they came from behind to beat title aspirant Muktijoddha Sangsad KC by 2-1 goals in a second phase match of the B. League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city Thursday, reports UNB.
With this result, Arambagh KS secured 23 points from 17 matches, while Mukti-joddha Sangsad KC, now out of the title race with the day's unexpected defeat, remained at 33 points playing 18 matches.
In the day's match, Ugandan recruit Iddi Badamambuze and skipper Kala Kumar Ghosh Zuku scored for Arambagh KS while veteran striker Alfaz Ahmed netted for the losers. The match was locked 1-1 in the first half.
Alfaz put the freedom fighters team ahead in the 36th minute by a placing shot from inside the D-box after dodging past an opponent defender utilizing a right wing Brahim pass (1-0).
Iddi restored parity for Arambagh KS in the 45th minute by a header from inside the danger zone capitalising on a left side Domenic cross (1-1).
Zuku scored the match-winner for Arambagh KS with a powerful straight shot from around 25 yards in the 67th minute when a wrong pass from Muktijoddha Sangsad midfielder Ghansa came his way (1-2).
Arambagh launched their first attack in the 19th minute when Iddi's powerful shot from danger zone was brilliantly fisted away by opponent custodian Titumir Chowdhury.
Iddi missed another chance to score in the 86th minute, as he failed to send the ball home from vantage position.
Muktijoddha Sangsad also came close to score in the 18th minute, but an Alfaz angular shot from inside the D-box was gripped by Arambagh custodian Piru.
Piru foiled another Mukti-joddha Sangsad attempt as he superbly fisted away a Munna angular shot from inside the danger zone off a Moni left side pass in the 35th minute.
