Asian Youth Games Mahfizur in 50m freestyle semis

Swimmer Mahfizur Rahman qualified for the 50-metre freestyle semi-finals in the inaugural Asian Youth Games after taking 25.31 seconds in the heat at the Singapore Sports School in Singapore pool Saturday.
The semi-finals were scheduled to be held at 7:04pm (Singapore local time). Mahfizur, who finished last in the 200m freestyle in 2:3.65 minutes, will also take part in his last event of 100m freestyle today (Sunday).
Mahfizur's team-mate Anik Islam finished eighth mong as many competitors in the 100m butterfly heat with 1:01.10 minutes. Anik, however, was better in the 50m butterfly heat as the swimmer took 27.32 seconds to finish fifth.
On the same day, shooters Shovan Chowdhury and Mahmudul Islam were eliminated from the 10m Air Rifles qualifying round. bdnews24.com reports.
