CHITTAGONG, Dec 22 (UNB): The Bangamata Begum Fazilatunesa Mujib Gold Cup Primary School Football Tournament in Chittagong advanced to the semifinal stage Monday with three matches decided through tie-breakers at the MA Aziz Stadium in the port city.
Four teams-Sultan Al Nahian Govt Primary School of Double Mooring; Haji Mir Ahmed Govt Primary School of Anwara; South Kattali Alhaj Abu Siddique Chowdhury Govt Primary School of Pahartali; and Mohammadnagar Govt Primary School of Panchlaish-moved to the semifinals eliminating their rivals in quarterfinals Monday.
In the day's quarterfinals, Sultan Al Nahian Primary beat Haji Abdul Gafur Govt Primary of Rangunia by 3-2 goals in tie breaker; Haji Mir Ahmed Primary defeated Jhulanpool Govt Primary of Mirsarai 1-0; South Kattali Alhaj Abu Siddique Chowdhury Primary beat Popadia Rafiq Smriti Govt Primary of Boalkhali 4-3 in tie breaker; and Mohammadnagar Primary beat Kalipur Govt Primary of Banshkhali 3-2 in tie breaker to reach the semis.
Semifinals of both the Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football for boys and Bangamata Begum Fazilatunesa Mujib Gold Cup Football for girls will be held today (Tuesday) at the same venue.
