Bangladesh A Team whitewashed Zimbabwe A team 2-0 in the two-match four-day unofficial Test series beating the visitors by 118 runs in the 2nd match on the 4th and final day at the Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Narayanganj Thursday, reports UNB.
Replying to Zimbabwe's 132 and 180 runs in two innings, the 2nd string Bangladesh side (258 runs in 1st innings) resumed the 2nd innings on the final day (Thursday) and batted for only an hour and 40 minutes before declaring the innings on 172 for 6, setting Zimbabwe a target of 299 for win.
Night watch batsman captain Naeem Islam (13) scored 50 not out off 113 balls with four fours, apart from Marshall Ayub's 53 runs.
In their 2nd innings, Zimbabwe A team were all out for 180 in 65.5 overs to concede an 118-run defeat.
Spinner Saqlain Sajib once again played a key role behind the Bangladesh victory, as he picked up five wickets in the 2nd innings, taking his tally to 21 in the two-match series after he took 15 wickets in the first Test match.
Visitors' captain Vusi Sibanda (6) was bowled by left-arm spinner Sajib in the sixth over. Sajib soon followed it up with the wicket of Mark Vermeulen (0).
Three more wickets fell before Zimbabwe A reached 100, but Brian Chari (74) and Joylord Gumbie (35) repaired the early damage with a brief recovery by adding 58 runs for the sixth wicket.
Once Naeem took the wicket of Gumbie, Zimbabwe A soon folded, even though Chari went on to make 74 with two fours and three sixes.
Leg-spinner Jubair Hossain finished with three wickets, while there was one each for Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Naeem.
