Bangladesh bag ODI series

Touring Bangladesh Under-19 team won the five-match Youth ODI Series 2-1 beating hosts England Under-19 side by one wicket with one over to spare in the 5th and final match at the Hove County ground in England Friday, UNB reports.
Hosts England took a 1-0 lead in the five-match Youth ODI series beating Bangladesh by huge 84 runs in the first ODI last Saturday while Bangladesh levelled the series 1-1 beating England by 53 runs in the 4th ODI at the Hove County ground Thursday.
Earlier, the 2nd Youth ODI match between the two teams was abandoned halfway due to rain at Grace Road in Leicester Sunday while the 3rd ODI match had to be abandoned for the same reason without a single ball being bowled at the Northampton County ground Tuesday.
But the Young Tigers lost the two-match Youth Test series 0-1 as they conceded a huge 10-wicket defeat against England in the first match while the 2nd Test ended in draw.
Favoured by coin in the 5th ODI, the English Youth side batted first to score 196 runs for 8 wickets in stipulated 50 overs with opener SA Northeast making 62 off 106 balls that included five boundaries.
Besides, JE Goodman (28), Azeem Rafiq (not out 21), AJ Wheater (21), LWP Wells (20), Dr Briggs (not out 14) and JK Manuel (12) were the other major scorers for England.
Mominul Haque and Shabbir Rahman grabbed two wickets each for 24 and 37 runs respectively while Mahmudul Hasan, Shaker Ahmed and Nur Hossain took one wicket apiece.
In reply, visiting Bangladesh Youth side, riding on a captain's knock of 70 runs by Mahmudul Hasan, reached their target of 197 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 49 overs.
Middle order Mahmudul Hasan's 85-ball innings featured four fours and a six while opener Anamul Haque, who performed consistently throughout the tour, added useful 34 runs off 49 balls, also with four fours and a six.
Besides, lower order Alauddin Babu made 24 off 30 balls and all rounder Shabbir Rahman scored 20 runs off 37 balls with one boundary. No other Bangladeshi batsmen were able to reach the double digit.
Bangladesh Under-19 team will play two Twenty20 matches against their English counterparts on July 28 and 29, both at the Seaford Cricket Club.
