Bangladesh Championship begins today

The seven-team Premier Bank Bangladesh Championship Football League will begin at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city Wednesday, reports UNB.

Arambagh Krira Sangha will play Badda Jagaroni Sangsad in the opening match that will kick-off at 4:30 pm.

Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports and Vice-President of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Arif Khan Joy will inaugurate the league.  Director General of Bangladesh Television (BTV) M Hamid will be present as the special guest.

Participating teams: Victoria Sporting Club, Wari Club, Badda Jagaroni Sangsad, Arambagh KS, Rahmataganj MFS, Farashganj SC, and Agrani Bank.

The seven teams will compete in the three-phase league, and finally two top teams will earn promotion to the Bangladesh Premier League while the bottom team will be relegated to the Metropolis First Division League.

Premier Bank, a leading private sector bank, will provide Tk 2.5 million to continue their sponsorship in the second tier of the professional football league.

The champion team will get prize money of Tk 0.5 million while the runners-up will receive Tk 0.3 million.
