Bangladesh National Handball team, in their first appearance in the heavyweight Asian meet, conceded a 20-46 goals defeat against hosts and Olympic champions South Korea in one of the six-opening day matches of the 18th Asian Men's Championship in the Korean city of Suwon on Thursday, reports UNB.
Bangladesh was trailing by 8-21 goals in the first half.
Mehedi Hasan, Mahbubul Alam Chowdhury and Shohag Hossain Arif scored four goals each while Shakir Shamir Emon netted three goals for the touring Bangladesh.
Fourteen teams, split into four groups, are taking part in the 11-day meet, a qualifying meet for the Men's World Cup Handball to be held either in Denmark or Germany next year. Top four teams of the ensuing 18th Asian Handball meet will qualify for the World Cup Handball-2019.
