Bangladesh lost the three-match ODI series 0-2 after a frustrating 47-run defeat against India equaling their lowest ODI score of 58 in the rain-interrupted low scoring 2nd ODI match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday, reports UNB.
Replying to India's lowest total of 105 runs against Bangladesh, eclipsing their previous lowest of 191, Bangladesh were bundled out for their lowest ODI total of 58 runs in 17.4 overs to equal their previous lowest 58 in 18.5 over against West Indies at the same venue in March 2011.
In the day's match, the 30 years old right arm medium pacer Stuart Binny bowled devastating to claim six wickets for just 4 overs in his 4.4 overs to dismiss the Tigers cheaply and defend India poor total of 105 runs. He was later adjudged the man of the match.
Muhit Sharma claimed the other four wickets for 22 runs in the rain-soaked ground.
Among the Bangladeshi batsmen, debutant Mithun Ali contributed 39-ball 26 runs featuring five boundaries and captain Mushfiqur Rahim scored 24-ball 11 runs with two fours.
Earlier, a rare win beckoned Bangladesh as they restricted visiting India at their lowest 105 runs against the Tigers in the rain-curtailed 41 over-a-side 2nd match of the three-match ODI series.
Debutant Taskin Ahmed took 5 wickets for 28 to shoot India out for a record-low 105.
Ahmed became the first Bangladeshi bowler to claim five-for on debut. He emerged as the eighth bowler in the ODI cricket to take a five-wicket haul on debut conceding 28 runs in his eight-over spell that played a pivotal role in dismissing India for their ever lowest total against Bangladesh in ODI.
On the way to his five-wicket haul, Taskin Ahmed took opener Robin Uthappa (14) first, caught by Ziaur Rahman. Later, he trapped lbw Cheteshwar Pujara (11), Ambati Rayudu (1), Amit Mishra (4) while Stuart Binny was caught by Al Amin Hossain.
In the day's match, Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahman won the toss and sent India to bat first.
Pacer Mashrafe Bin Mortaza made the early breakthrough claiming the wicket of opener Ajinkya Rahane (0) in the very 2nd ball of the innings. His other scalp was Wriddhiman Saha (5). Mashrafe bowled both of them conceding 35 runs.
