Bangladesh contingent returns home today

An 80-member Bangladesh contingent, including 54 athletes and 26 officials, will return home this (Wednesday) morning by an Emirates flight after a nine-day successful campaign in the Special Olympics Summer World Games that concluded Sunday in Los Angeles, USA, reports UNB.
After the closing ceremony on Sunday, the delegations from 177 countries across the world started to leave Los Angeles with good memories with Bangladesh contingent due to leave Los Angeles for home Monday.
Bangladesh took part in six disciplines --athletics, badminton, bocce, football, swimming and table tennis--of the 25 held, participated by some 7,000 athletes from 177 countries from all over world from July 25 to August 4.
Bangladesh clinched 18 gold, 22 silver and 14 bronze medals from the meet, according a message received in Dhaka from Head of Bangladesh Delegation Farukul Islam Monday.
Earlier on Sunday, Special Olympics Bangladesh in a message informed that Bangladesh clinched 12 gold, 11 silver and eight bronze medals.
