Bangladesh emerge group B champs, face Hong Kong in semis tomorrow

Bangladesh women cricket team emerged Group B champions in the ACC Women's Cricket tournament with an 86-run win over China in the last group match at Institute Perguruan Temenggong Ibrahim in Johor Bahru in Malaysia Sunday, reports UNB.
Bangladesh will play Group A runners-up Hong Kong in the semi-final Tuesday (July 17) at the Johor Cricket Academy.
Strong Hong Kong side finished the group stage with a surprise seven-wicket defeat against Nepal, also on Sunday.
Nepal, who finished top of group A, will play group B runners- up China in the other semis.
In the day's group match against China, Bangladesh opted to bat first after winning the toss and were all out for 108 in 29.5 overs.
Vice-captain Panna Ghosh scored highest 26 runs while Chameli Khatun made second highest 19. Skipper Tazkia Akhter 16, Ayesha Akhter 8 and Shamima Akhter Pinky not out 4 were the other notable scorers for the Bangladesh eves.
Mei Chun Hua captured four wickets for 27 runs while Chen Yong Juan took three wickets for 16 runs.
In reply, China could hardly make any resistance and were bundled out for 22 runs in 22 overs.
Left-arm spinner Champa Chakma was the pick of the Bangladesh bowlers claiming four wickets for just five runs. Off spinner Tithi Rani Sarker grabbed three wickets for two runs while another off spinner Salma Khatun took two wickets.
Earlier, in their maiden appearance in the international tournament, Bangladesh eves made a flying start crushing United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 10 wickets Wednesday and confirmed the semi-final berth beating Singapore, also by 10 wickets Friday.
