Bangladesh finish 7th in Asia Cup Hockey beating HK 3-1

Bangladesh beat Hong Kong (HK) by 3-1 goals to become 7th in the 7th Asia Cup Hockey Championship in a position deciding match held in Chennai, India, Sunday, reports UNB.
The match locked in 1-1 goals during the first half.
Celebrated forward Rasel Mahmud Jimmy, who scored four goals against Thailand in their first appearance, scored two and Zahid Bin Talib netted the remaining goal for Bangladesh while Arif Ali netted the consolation goal for Hong Kong.
Arif Ali put Hong Kong ahead from a penalty corner in the 23rd minute with the frustration of Bangladesh (1-0).
Bangladesh's forward Rasel Mahmud Jimmy restored the parity just few seconds before the breather by an angular hit, utilising a lapse of opposing defender (1-1).
In the 46th minute, Zahid Bin Talib put Bangladesh ahead from behind scoring a field goal (2-1).
Hong Kong tried their best to make a break through but failed due to man-to-man marking by Bangladesh.
At one stage, Hong Kong were found very serious for goals and started attacking games leaving some gaps. Taking the advantage, Bangladesh scored their third goal to earn a convincing 3-1 victory.
Rasel Mahmud Jimmy sealed the fate of the match in the 59th minute from a penalty corner to finish 7th in the eleven-nation Asian meet. However, Hong Kong was placed 8th.
In a third place-deciding match, Malaysia beat Japan by 5-3 goals at the same venue in the afternoon.
In the day's another classification match, China was placed 5th upsetting giant Pakistan by 3-2 goals in the morning.
With the day's upset, former World and Olympic Champions Pakistan remained satisfied with 6th place.
Island nation Sri Lanka was placed 9th defeating Singapore by 6-0 goals in another classification match in Chennai Sunday morning.
Singapore finished 10th and all losers Thailand was placed at bottom in the eleven-team fray.
Hosts India is due to play Asian Games champions Korea in the final match of the 7th Asia Cup Hockey Sunday evening.
