Bangladesh Int'l Junior Tennis begins

The Dhaka Bank 22nd Bangladesh International Junior Tennis tournament (Group-3), organised by the Bangladesh Tennis Federation, began Sunday at the Ramna National Tennis Complex with the qualifying round matches, reports UNB.
Chief Adviser's Special Assistant for Youth and Sports Mahbub Jamil will formally inaugurate the eight-day meet Tuesday at 4.0pm on the first day of main draw. Tournament sponsors Dhaka Bank Limited vice-president Altaf Hossain Sarker will be present as special guest.
A total of 175 players, including 65 girls from 26 countries along with hosts Bangladesh are taking part in the four events - boys' singles, girls' singles, girls' singles and girls' doubles. An eight-member team comprising four boys and four girls is representing Bangladesh in the meet.
The singles champion of the meet will earn 60 ITF points, the doubles champions 50 points, singles' runner-up 45 points and doubles runner-up 30 points, which will be added to the world ranking.
Of total Tk 0.65 million (650,000) budget, tournament sponsors Dhaka Bank will provide Tk 0.5 million (500,000).
Satellite channel Boishaki TV will telecast the matches live from the semi-final stages.
