Bangladesh men's, women's teams concede defeat

Bangladesh men's and women's teams lost their first round matches in the Asian Team Chess Championship that began Tuesday at the Kolkata Town Hall, reports UNB.
Bangladesh men's team lost their first round match against top seeded India by 2.5-1.5 points.
GM Ziaur Rahman (Rating-2545) drew with GMP Harikrishna (Rating-2672) after 60 moves, GM Niaz Murshed (Rating-2409) drew with GM Surya Shekhar Ganguly (Rating-2654) at 55th move, FM Mohammed Abdul Malek (Rating-2290) drew with GM Deepan Chakrabarty (Rating-2518) in 75th move. But Jamaluddin of Bangladesh lost to GM Parimarjan Negi (Rating-2620) of India.
In the women's section, Bangladesh team lost to Vietnam by 1-3 points.
Nazrana Khan Eva of Bangladesh (Rating-1985) beat WGM Le Thanh Tu (Rating-2295) of Vietnam. Jahanara Haque Runu (Rating-1548) lost to WIM Pham Le Thao Nguyen, WFM Zakia Sultana (Rating-1971) lost to WGM Nguyen Thi Thanh An (Rating-2334) and Masuda Begum (Rating-1872) lost to WFM Nguyen Thi Mai Hung (Rating-2244).
Ten teams, two teams from India and one each team from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Iran, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Yemen are taking part in the men's section while nine teams with two teams from India and one each team from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Iran, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Vietnam are taking part in the women's section.
The seven round Swiss-League system meet will conclude on December, 28.
