Bangladesh outplay Afghanistan in IHF handball meet

The height of Afghan players could not impress host Bangladesh as they registered an overwhelming 46-20 win over Afghanistan in one of the inaugural day matches of the IHF Men's Handball Challenge Trophy at the Suhrawardy National Indoor Stadium in Mirpur Tuesday, reports BSS.
The winners led the first half 21-10.
Imdadul Haq was the leading goal scorer for Bangladesh with 14 goals, Didar Hossain followed him with nine goals and Sadhan Barua was closely behind Didar with eight goals.
Ahmad Zubair was the leading scorer for Afghanistan with seven goals and Masud and Omid netted four goals each for the losers.
Earlier in the inaugural match, Pakistan won beating Nepal 49-14 at the same venue.
Mubeen Ashraf and Habib Jubayer scored match highest nine goals each while Muhammad Jubayer netted eight goals for Pakistan after leading the 1st half 23-05.
Bipin Bista and Fuldev Choudhary scored six and four goals respectively for Nepal.
Earlier, State Minister for Youth and Sports Ahad Ali Sarkar inaugurated the championship as chief guest.
Six countries, five from South Asia -- India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Afghanistan and hosts Bangladesh -- and Yemen from middle-east, are taking part in the weeklong meet, organised by Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) with the financial support from International Handball Federation (IHF).
The title sponsors are Exim Bank Limited and Sun Life Insurance Limited while the co-sponsors are South East Bank Limited and Bexi Fabrics.
