Following the 104-run win in the first of the two-match Test series against Pakistan, several Bangladeshi players climbed in the latest ICC rankings published on Wednesday, reports UNB.
Najmul Hossain Shanto, the Bangladesh captain, moved up 16 places after his outstanding performance, scoring a century in the first innings and narrowly missing another in the second.
Left-handed middle-order batter Mominul Haque, who scored twin fifties in the same match, rose to 35th in the Test batting rankings. Former captain and wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim also improved his position.
Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam also moved up in the rankings and is now ranked 13th among Test bowlers. Nahid Rana, the
right-arm pacer who claimed a five-for in the fourth innings and sealed the match for the hosts, rose to 64th place.
The second and final Test of the series will take place in Sylhet from May 17.
In their last meeting, Bangladesh beat Pakistan 2-0 on home soil.
Bangladesh can secure back-to-back series wins over Pakistan if they
can pull off another victory in Sylhet.
Meanwhile, India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah maintained his pole position among Test bowlers.
