Bangladesh rout Mexico 6-1

Bangladesh Hockey team notched a 6-1 victory over Mexico in the eight-team World Hockey League (Round-2) match in Singapore Sunday, reports UNB.

In the day's Pool-B match, Sarowar Hossain scored three goals while Russell Mahmud netted two goals and Pushkor Khisa Mimo scored one goal for Bangladesh. Alexis Campillo scored the consolation goal for Mexico.

Alexis Campillo fired the net first by a field goal in 19th minute of the match to put Mexico ahead and to dominate the first half 1-0.

In the 3rd period, Sarowar Hossain of Bangladesh restored the parity scoring a penalty corner goal in 32nd minute while Russell Mahmud doubled the margin by a field goal in the 37th minute. Pushkor Khisa Mimo scored a field goal in 43rd minute while Russell Mahmud netted his 2nd field goal in 44th minute.

In the last and 4th period, Sarowar Hossain scored two field goals in the 50th and 60th minute to raise team's tally to 6 and his individual 3.

In the remaining group match, 30th ranked Bangladesh will face 18th ranked Poland at 1:00pm (Bangladesh time) tomorrow (Tuesday).

Earlier, in the opening match of the Round-2 Saturday, Bangladesh lost to Japan 1-5.

Meanwhile, in the day's another Pool-B match, Poland beat Japan by 3-2 goals to taste their 2nd win in the group stage as they beat Mexico by 6-0 goals in the first match Saturday.
