Bangladesh to take on Malaysia in final today

Eyeing to win the trophy, Bangladesh will take on Malaysia in the final of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup International Football Tournament at the Bangabandhu National Stadium at 5:00 pm today (Sunday), reports UNB.

Bangladesh team head coach Lodewik D Kruif and captain Mamunul Islam Mamun Saturday at a press conference at the BFF in the capital expressed their hope to win the prestigious trophy.

"Everybody is exited, we can achieve the trophy….…we'll meet the opponent on Sunday like that of Friday," said D Kruif. "Opponent is always strong, but winning is very important for us."

About the game strategy the coach said, "Hope, we'll play a real football with the combination of quick-play as the opponent is very strong…….hundreds of things we need to improve……but we can win."

Hoping a crowded stadium on the final day D Kruif said, "Crowd will give much pressure on both sides but winning is very important for us."

"We lost to Malaysia in the first match, but all well that ends well, captain Mamun said at the press conference, adding, "Everyone in my team is injury free and we made commitment to play the final game for our martyrs of 1971 Liberation War."

"Moreover, we're eager to win the trophy as every player in my team wishes to be a best footballer.......it's an opportunity to be the best one and make history," said Mamun.

Replying to a query the captain said, "We want to play with confidence and don't want to give any chance to our opponent …………we'll deliver our best performance to win the trophy."

Malaysia Coach Rajip Ismail thanked the Bangladesh team as they reached the final and hopes to win the trophy saying, "We won the first edition title in 1996 and hope we're going to do the same again on Sunday."

Over 100 countries across the globe will be able to witness the high voltage six-nation game today (Sunday) through 88 TV channels, including Channel 9, a Bangladesh private TV channel. The gallery ticket price for the final match was fixed at TK 80 while VIP tickets were reserved for the invited guests.

The gate-NO 5, 6, 8, 12, 13, 14, 18, 19 and 20-- will open at 2:00pm for the general audience while gate no 21 will open for  Members of Parliament and sponsors officials.
