Bangladesh win 3-2 against Sri Lanka

Bangladesh earned a hard fought 3-2 goals win over South Asian rivals Sri Lanka in their third Pool B match of the 7th Men's Asia Cup Hockey in Chennai Monday, fulfilling the pre-tournament target, reports UNB.
Russell Mahmud Jimmy, Md Mamun and Zahidul Islam scored one goal each for the winners.
The match was locked 1-1 during the first half.
Jimmy, who was adjudged man of the match for the second time in the tournament, put Bangladesh ahead early in the 4th minute converting a penalty corner (1-0) while Hettiarachchi restored parity for Sri Lanka with a field goal in the 31st minute (1-1).
After the lemon break, Bangladesh again took lead when Mamun converted a penalty corner in the 46th minute (2-1).
Zahidul completed the winners' tally, also converting a penalty corner in the 49th minute (3-1) while Panditharathne pulled one back for the Islanders converting a penalty corner in the 58th minute (3-2).
Earlier, Bangladesh achieved their first target crushing Thailand by record 13-0 goals in the first appearance Friday although they suffered a huge 0-6 defeat against Asian Games silver medalist China in the second match Saturday.
Bangladesh will play their 4th pool B match against India on Sept 4 and the 5th match against Korea on Sept 6.
