Bangladesh win two-match series crushing Singapore 8-0

Hosts Bangladesh Women's Team smartly clinched two-match FIFA Tier-1 Women's International Friendly Football Series 2-0 crushing touring Singapore Women's Team by 8-0 goals in the final match at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Shipahi Mustofa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur in Dhaka on Monday afternoon, reports UNB.

Bangladesh, which needed just a draw in the day's match to win the two-match-series, outplayed Singapore by 3-0 in the first match on last Friday. In Monday, they comfortably dominated the first half by 3-0 goals, featuring three goals in span of eight minutes.

This was the second biggest victory for Bangladesh Women's Football Team in the month of country's victory after their ever-biggest 9-0 goals win over Bhutan at home in December 2010, that also in the month of victory.

Bangladesh women's team, which brought laurel for the country by clinching the first-ever and historic title of the South Asian Women's Football Championship 14 months ago in Kathmandu, in September 2022, again made the country's football fans proud, outplaying the upper ranked Singapore women's team.

In the day's one-sided affairs, striker Tohura Khatun, who struck twice in the first match against Singapore last Friday, today (Monday) also netted two goals in span of eight minutes in the first half.

Winger Ritu Porna Chakma also struck twice, while another winger Sanjida Akter, captain Sabina Khatun, substitute forward Sumaiya Matsushima and midfielder Shamsun Nahar Jr scored one goal each for Bangladesh, spoiling another couple of good opportunities.

Tohura Khatun opened the floodgate for Bangladesh in the 16th minute by a header from close, Ritu Porna Chakma doubled the margin in the 18th minute by pushing the home from handshake distance (2-0), while Tohura Khatun scored her second and the third goal for Bangladesh in the 24th minute (3-0) to go for breather with relaxed mood.

After the breather, Sanjida Akter, who played an entertaining football today, further sounded the margin, scoring the fourth goal in the 56th minute by a reboundershot (4-0), Ritu Porna netted her second and the fifth goal for Bangladesh in the 62nd minute by a brilliant left footer (5-0).

Skipper Sabina Khatun found the net in the 75th minute by a volley from close (6-0), substitute Sumaiya scored the 7th goal in the 87th minute from a goal-mouth melee shot (7-0) while another substitute booter Shamsun Nahar Junior sealed the fate of the match in the stoppage time (90+1 minute).

In the two- match series, Bangladesh scored 11 goals without conceding any.

After the match, Bangladesh coach Saiful Bari Titu gave all credits to the players for such a victory.

Bangladesh Women's Team, FIFA ranked 142nd, earned a deserving victory against 130th ranked Singapore, outplaying them in every department to win the series in style to take sweet revenge of their 0-3 goals defeat against hosts Singapore in a Development Tournament there six year ago.
