Bashar on panel probing T20I World Cup absence

A formal inquiry has been launched into Bangladesh's withdrawal from the 2026 T20 World Cup, with former captain Habibul Bashar included in the investigation team, according to bdnews24.com.
The National Sports Council (NSC) formed an official inquiry committee on Monday after Youth and Sports Minister Aminul Haque earlier hinted at the move.
Bashar is the chief selector of the national cricket team.
The committee is headed by AKM Oli Ullah, additional secretary (Administration Wing) of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Alongside Bashar, the other member is Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Faisal Dostagir, who is also described in the NSC notification as a prominent sports organiser.
The NSC has outlined the committee's mandate as preparing a review report on Bangladesh's non-participation in the 2026 T20 World Cup and examining related issues.
The panel has been instructed to submit its findings to the ministry within 15 working days.
