Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Faruque Ahmed said that dashing opener Tamim Iqbal was present in the 'cricketers' meeting with the board president as a player, reports BSS.
Tamim has been away from the cricket since last year due to his indifference with the then Nazmul Hasan Papon-led BCB. Once the regime was changed, he started coming to BCB almost regularly but didn't clear the air whether he will return to cricket.
The social media went abuzz with his possible role as a BCB director also following the resignation of Khaled Mahmud Sujon who was elected from the captain category. But he was present during board president's meeting with the current cricketers' on Friday, raising some question in which capacity he was there.
"He is still a cricketer, did he retire from the cricket," Faruque replied in a query while addressing the media at a local hotel in the city on Saturday.
National cricketers discussed about BPL remuneration with the BCB president in the meeting. There, the cricketers spontaneously asked the BCB president to organize the BPL properly, even if the remuneration was slightly reduced.
"Tamim came. After I became president, I could not sit with the cricketers, so they came to meet me and discuss some issues," he said.
"We are going through a difficult time. There are leagues like BPL, DPL and other domestic and international cricket. So there was We have discussed about it."
