Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) reduced the number of national cricketers under its central contract to 10 from existing 16, excluding six national cricketers from their contract, reports UNB.
The grade category will be declared later. Apart from the cricketers named, three other players will be handed Rookie contracts as per the recommendation of the Cricket Operations Committee.
BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon made the announcement after the 3rd meeting of its Board of Directors on Wednesday.
The BCB boss did not, however, make any announcement as to whether there will be any increase in the salary of the national contracted cricketers as per expectations.
Reliable sources said the salary of the contracted players may just increase 25 to 30 per cent according to their category.
Last year, salary of A plus category cricketers like Mashrafe, Shakib, Tamim and Mushfiqur increased almost double from 0.25 million (2.5 lakh) to 0.4 million (4 lakh) and A category like Mahmudullah increased to Tk 0.3 million (3 lakh) from Tk 0.2 million (2 lakh).
As per the rotation policy of the ACC presidency, it is the BCB's turn to appoint the next president of the regional body. The Board has unanimously decided to submit the name of its own president Nazmul Hassan (Papon), MP, as the BCB's nominee for the ACC presidency from 2018-2020.
The board also decided to hold the 6th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL T20) from the first week of October to mid-November 2018.
