BCB elections to be held on June 7

The Bangladesh Cricket Board's next election is scheduled to be held on June 07, the Election Commission announced on Saturday, reports Cricbuzz.
The announcement came through a notification signed by Chief Election Commissioner Ahsanul Karim after the deadline for councillor nominations ended at 5 pm on May 16.
Former national captain Tamim Iqbal is currently serving as the interim head of the board after the National Sports Council dissolved the Aminul Islam-led body on charges of misuse of power. The interim administration has been tasked with conducting the next BCB election within 30 days.
On April 04, the BCB announced the start of the election process by approving the formation of a three-member Election Commission to oversee the polls. According to the schedule, the draft voters' list will be published on the BCB website at 4 pm on May 17 from the board office in Mirpur.
Objections to the list can be submitted between 10 am and 4 pm on May 18, with hearings scheduled during the same hours on May 19. The final voters' list will be published an hour later on the same day.
Candidates interested in contesting the election can collect nomination papers from the Returning Officer's office at the BCB headquarters in Mirpur between 10 am and 4 pm on May 20 and 21 on payment of a non-refundable fee of Tk 20,000.
The completed nomination papers must be submitted between 11 am and 5 pm on May 21 and 22.
A postal ballot system will also be in place, with councillors required to send applications from their registered email addresses to the designated email ID (bcbec2026@gmail.com) by midnight BST on May 25.
Between June 1 and 6, postal ballots and designated e-ballots will be sent to voters at their current addresses. Completed postal and e-ballots must reach the BCB office or the designated email address by 1 pm on June 7, after which no ballots will be accepted.
Voting will take place from 10 am to 4 pm on June 7 at the BCB Board Room at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur, while the final results will be announced at 6 pm the same day from the office of the Chief Election Commissioner after the votes are counted.
Earlier, on May 13, the BCB announced the formation of the Election Commission for the BCB Board of Directors Election 2026.
Ahsanul Karim, Senior Advocate at the Bangladesh Supreme Court, will serve as the Chief Election Commissioner. The other two members are Md. Israil Hawlader, Police Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police, and A.B.M. Ehsanul Mamun, Deputy Secretary and Director (Planning & Development) at the National Sports Council.
"The Election Commission will oversee and conduct all necessary procedures relating to the BCB Board of Directors Election 2026 in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations," the BCB said in a statement.
The Election Commission is expected to announce the list of 192 councillors across three categories.
