Table topper BCB North Zone trailed by 318 runs against Prime Bank South Zone after the fourth day of the five-day match of the 2nd Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) final at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Monday, reports UNB.
On the fourth day (Monday), Prime Bank SZ (271 runs in first innings) resumed the 2nd innings with overnight 410 for 3 in 90 overs and posted 536 runs for all in 116.3 overs.
Night watch Mithun (111) scored 126 runs off 138 balls with 16 fours and five sixes while skipper Abdur Razzak added 33 runs.
Taiabur Parvez (31), Shuvagata Hom (22) and Anamul Haque (21) were the other notable scorers for Prime Bank SZ on the fourth day.
Shuvashish Roy claimed 3 wickets for 128 runs while Forhad Reza and Taijul Islam took two wickets each for 59 and 156 runs respectively in the 2nd innings.
In reply, BCB North Zone (235 runs in first innings) opened the 2nd innings and scored 254 for 3 in 63 overs at stumps on the day.
One down Forhad Hossain scored unbeaten 85 runs off 154 balls with nine fours; skipper Nasir Hossain scored not out 67 off 102 balls with seven fours and a six, and Junaid Siddique added 51 runs off 66 balls with seven fours.
In the fourth wicket stand, Forhad Hossain and Nasir Hossain built an unbeaten 128 runs partnership to raise the team total from 126/3 in 30.2 overs to 254/3 in 63 overs.
Myshukur Rahman(32) and Naeem Islam (16) were the other double digit scorers for BCB NZ.
Experienced spinner Abdur Razzak grabbed two wickets for 76 runs while Shuvagata Hom took one wicket for 41 runs.
With one more day to go, even if the match ends in a draw tomorrow (Tuesday), Prime Bank SZ will clinch the 2nd BCL crown by virtue of their first innings lead over BCB NZ.
