BCB XI beat Maharashtra CA

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Eleven earned a convincing 63-run win over Maharashtra Cricket Association, an Indian Ranji Trophy team, in the first of the three-match Twenty20 Cricket series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur in the city Sunday, reports UNB
All the cricketers of Bangladesh national team, except skipper Mohammad Ashraful and vice-captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, played against visiting Maharashtra team under the banner of BCB XI as part of their final preparations ahead of next month's ICC Twenty20 World Cup in England.
Captain of the visiting side Harshad Khadiwale won the toss in the day's match and sent BCB Eleven to bat first.
Batting first, BCB Eleven scored a moderate 150 runs for 8 wickets in stipulated 20 overs.
Middle order batsman Mahmudullah Riyad scored not out 40 runs off 34 balls with two fours and a six, and later was adjudged man of the match.
Besides, opener Junaed Siddiqui (22), Rakibul Hasan (21), Naeem Islam (19), Shakib Al Hasan (16) and opener Tamim Iqbal (15) were the other major contributors for BCB Eleven.
Ranjit Chauhan and Srikant Mundhe picked up two wickets each conceding 17 and 31 runs respectively.
In reply, Maharashtra CA were dismissed for 87 runs in 17.1 overs.
Captain cum opening batsman Harshad Khadiwale scored 19 runs, lower order Srikant Mundhe 19, Ganesh Gaikwad 13 and Azhar Ansari 10 for the tourists.
All rounder Shakib Al Hasan and Naeem Islam grabbed three wickets each for 17 and 20 runs respectively.
The BCB Eleven, sans Ashraful and Mashrafe now in South Africa for playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL), will play the remaining two Twenty20 matches against the Maharashtra CA Monday and Tuesday at the same venue, both starting at 9:30 am.
