BCB XI beat Zim by 88 runs

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) XI beat visiting Zimbabwe by 88 runs in the lone practice match ahead of the 5-match Bashundhara Cement One Day International (ODI) Series at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong Wednesday, reports UNB.

After the first-ever 3-0 series win in the Test format in the current tour, Bangladesh will face Zimbabwe in their first match of the 5-match ODI series on November 21 and in the second match on November 23. Both the matches will be held at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.

The Tigers will play the remaining three ODIs against the visiting side at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka on November 26, 28, and December 1.

Sent in to bat first in the day's match, BCB XI scored 282 for all in stipulated 50 overs, riding on the 6th wicket partnership of 94 runs in 14.2 overs contributed by Nasir Hossain and Shuvagata Hom.

Nasir Hossain was the only half-centurion for BCB XI scoring 61 runs off 62 balls with three fours and two sixes before being bowled by Vusimuzi Sibanda at 249 for 7 in 47.3 overs.

Earlier, opening batsman Shamsur Rahman pairing with number five Sabbir Rahman made 60 runs in 13.2 overs in the 4th wicket stand before Sabbir was trapped leg-before by John Nyumbu at 111 for 4 in 27.5 overs.

Shamsur Rahman was also trapped leg-before by John Nyumbu scoring 49 runs off 77 balls with five fours.

Shuvagata Hom added 40 runs off 43 balls with four fours and was caught by Peter Moor off V Sibanda with scoreboard showing 212 for 6 in 43.5 overs.

Number eight Abul Hasan smashed 33 runs off 16 balls with four sixes while Sabbir Rahman (22), Muktar Ali (17), Soumya Sarkar (14) and skipper Anamul Haque (13) were the other double digit scorers for BCB XI.

V Sibanda was the day's successful bowler for the visitors claiming four wickets for 44 runs in 7 overs while N Madziva and J Nyumbu took two wickets each for 22 and 40 runs respectively in 7 and 10 overs.

Chasing 283 runs, Zimbabweans were dismissed for 194 in 45.3 overs.

After losing two top order batsmen Brendan Taylor and Regis Chakabva for 55 in 15.3 overs, Timycen Maruma pairing with Sikandar Raza contributed 77 runs in 16 overs in the second wicket stand before Raza was caught by Nasir Hossain off Sabbir Rahman at 132 for 3 in 31.3 overs.

T Maruma made half-century scoring 50 runs off 79 balls with four fours and was caught by Rony Talukdar off Shafiul Islam.

Sikandar Raza scored 44 runs off 43 balls with three fours while B Taylor (28), R Mutumbami (22), Shingi Masakadza (15) and R Chakabva (14) were the other double digit scorers for the visitors.

Sabbir Rahman, Shaiful Islam, Mohammad Shahid, Abul Hasan grabbed two wickets each for 23, 24, 25, and 53 runs respectively.
