BCB XI concede defeat in Acharya Memorial Trophy

Visiting Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) XI suffered 2nd consecutive defeat in the SK Acharya Memorial Challenger Trophy losing to Karnataka XI by five wickets the 2nd Campus of Jadavpur University at Salt Lake in Kolkata Tuesday, reports UNB.
BCB XI made a frustrating start in the four-team cricket meet, arranged on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Eden Gardens Stadium of Kolkata, as they conceded an eight-wicket defeat against Mumbai XI in the rain-interrupted opening match at the same venue on Monday.
Sent into bat first in the day's match, BCB XI scored 260 runs for 9 wickets in stipulated 50 overs with opener Imrul Kayes making a century contributing just 100 runs off 104 balls that featured nine fours and three sixes.
National colour all-rounder Nasir Hossain made unbeaten 56 runs off 72 balls with seven boundaries.
Besides, Sabbir Rahman (24), Kamrul Islam Rabbi (20), Mohammad Shahid (12) and Liton Kumar Das (11) were the other notable contributors for BCB XI.
Karnataka skipper S Arvind and SL Akshya grabbed three wickets each for 24 and 48 runs respectively.
In reply, Karnataka XI reached their winning target scoring 264 runs for 5 wickets in 46.3 overs with one down Shishir Bhavane making ton scoring 112 runs off 105 balls that featured 14 fours and two sixes.
Besides, Mayank Agarwal (70), KC Avinash (n.o. 44) and Kranthi Kumar (n.o. 22) were the other major scorers for Karnataka XI.
Naeem Islam picked up two wickets for 32 runs while Mohammad Shahid, Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Mohammad Elias took one wicket each.
Touring BCB Eleven will play their remaining match against Bengal XI on Thursday at the same venue.
