BD concede 0-5 goal defeat to Australia

Bangladesh conceded 0-5 goal defeat to Asian champions and four-time World Cupper Australia in their away match of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers at the NIB Stadium in the Australian city of Perth Thursday, reports UNB.

The Socceroos (Australian), 61st in FIFA rankings, led the first half by 4-0 goal in their first-ever meeting in international football against 170th ranked Bangladesh with all the four goals scored within first 29 minutes.

In the ongoing FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, Bangladesh conceded 1-3 goals defeat to Kyrgyzstan on June 11 and played to a 1-1 draw against Tajikistan on June 16 in their home matches of Group B.

Bangladesh will play their home match against Australia on November 17 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city.

On return from Australia on September 4, Bangladesh National football team will play their home match against Group B leader Jordan on September 8 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city.

In the day's match, Bangladesh adopted defensive method from very beginning and conceded two quick goals with eight minutes and four goals in 29th minute, but later Bangladesh played cautious game to hold their mighty rivals.

Bangladesh custodian Shahidul Alam, who played a vital role in Bangladesh's goalless draw against Malaysia in FIFA International Friendly a few days back, displayed his brilliance under bar foiling a good number of Australia attempts.

Mat Leckie put Australia ahead in the 6th minute of the match tapping the ball into the bottom left corner of the net off a Luongo cut back (1-0).

Tom Rogic doubled the margin in the 8th minute pulling the trigger from the edge of the box, also off a Luongo pass (2-0).

In the 19th minute, Bangladesh conceded their 3rd goal when defender Tapu Barman sent the ball to his own net while trying to foil an attempt of Rogic (3-0).

Nathan Burns scored the 4th goal for Australia in the 29th minute by an angular placing shot from a goalmouth melee when a header of Rogic came his way from Bangladesh custodian Shahidul Alam, who dived to his right to parry it away (4-0).

In the 61st minute, Aaron Mooy sealed the fate of the match scoring the 5th goal for Socceroos by a cannon-like shot beating Shahidul Alam (5-0).

Chris Ikonomidis and Jackson Irvine saw their headers rebound off the side post in the 61st and 81st minutes.

Nearly 7000 Bangladeshi fans witnessed the match as well as supported their home side.

Bangladesh now have secured one point from three matches with a 3-1 defeat to Kyrgyzstan and a 1-1 draw against Tajikistan.
