BD contingent leaves for London today

Bangladesh contingent will leave the city for London today (Sunday) morning to participate in the 30th Olympic Games beginning there on July 27 with a hope of winning medal in gymnastics or shooting, reports UNB.
Five sportsmen and 10 officials will represent Bangladesh in the greatest show on earth-the London Olympics--- alongside some 10,500 athletes of 204 countries vying for 302 gold medals in 29 disciplines of sports.
Two athletes of the 15-member Bangladesh contingent-shooter Sharmin Akhter Ratna and gymnasts Quazi Syque Ceasar-will join the team in London. Ratna already in London for taking higher training and Ceasar, now under intensive training in USA, will fly for London.
Bangladesh will participate in five disciplines-archery, athletics, swimming, shooting and artistic gymnastics-in the mega games.
Imdadul Haque Milon will compete in recurve event of archery, Mohon Khan in 100-meter sprint of athletics, Mahfuzur Rahman in the 50-meter free style swimming, Sharmin Akhtar Ratna in the 10-meter air rifle shooting and Quazi Syque Ceasar in the artistic gymnastics.

Quazi Syque Ceasar is said to have a slim chance of winning a medal in the Olympic Games.
Earlier on Thursday, BOA secretary general Kutubuddin Ahmed said, "We're expecting medals from gymnastics and shooting".
"Our shooter had undergone training in London and adjusted with the conditions there while gymnast Ceasar got training in USA, so we do hope they will earn medals," Kutub added.
