Bangladesh men's and women's teams Monday beat their counterparts in their respective 9th round matches of the 41st World Chess Olympiad in Tromso, Norway, reports UNB.
In the open section, Bangladesh men's team beat Sri Lanka by 3-1 points while Bangladesh women's team beat Honduras 4-0.
After the 9th round matches, Bangladesh men's team earned 10 match points and 20.5 game points while women's team earned 8 match points and 19 game points.
In the 9th round men's open section matches against Sri Lanka, IM Minhazuddin Ahmed Sagar beat Perera W C C and GM Niaz Murshed defeated Alahakoon Isuru, while GM Abdullah Al Rakib and GM Enamul Hossain Razib drew against Kurukulasuriya Prasanna and Galapaththi Chinthaka Anuruddh respectively.
In the women's section matches against Hondurus, WIM Shamima Akter Liza beat Ortiz Katherine Berenice, WFM Nazrana Khan Eva defeated Ortiz Rosa Daniela, WIM Rani Hamid beat Fernandez Mirna Graciela and WFM Zakia Sultana outclassed Ramos Donaire Maria Pradi.
Bangladesh men's team was due to play against El Salvador while women's team against IBCA in the 10th round matches Tuesday.
