BD spends Tk 4.8b on World Cup

Bangladesh has spent a total of Tk 4.8 billion on the ICC World Cup, state minister for sports Ahad Ali Sarker revealed Monday, reports bdnews24.com.
Of the total amount, sports ministry spent Tk 3.04 billion on renovation of five stadiums - Bangabandhu, Sher-e-Bangla, Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury, Fatullah and Khulna. Besides, home ministry spent Tk 850 million, national security directorate Tk 117.5 million, LGRD Tk 548 million, tourism and civil aviation ministry Tk 85 million, information ministry Tk 5.4 million, and defence ministry spent Tk 119.1 million.
The state minister told reporters that he did not know about the financial outcome in co-hosting the event, and thus could not tell anything about the income.
He asked the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to disclose the accounts of expenses and income.
