Touring Bangladesh Under-19 team were trailing by 138 runs against Sri Lanka Under-19 side on the rain-interrupted 2nd day of the three-day First Youth Test at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium Thursday, reports UNB.
Hosts Sri Lankan youth team resumed their first innings Thursday with the overnight total of 212 for 9 in 96 overs and were all out for 216 runs in 97.4 overs, adding only four runs to their credit in 10 balls.
AM Fernando, who was in batting on 19 runs, scored a patient 23 runs off 51 balls hitting five boundaries before he was caught by Saif Hasan off a Nihaduzzaman delivery.
Nihaduzzaman made major damage to the Lankan innings grabbing five wickets including the last one of AM Fernando for 55 runs to restrict their opponent to a poor total while skipper Mehedy Hasan grabbed three wickets conceding 65 runs.
In reply, Bangladesh opened the first innings Thursday and scored 78 runs for 2 in 28 overs when the bails were drawn for 2nd day with Saif Hassan and Shadman Islam contributing 65 runs in the opening stand in 17.5 overs.
Shadman Islam scored a half century making 69-ball 56 runs with eleven boundaries before he was caught by Asalanka off a Peiris delivery while Saif Hasan made a patient 19-run score off 57 balls with three fours before he was fell victim of lbw by Peiris.
KN Peiris took both the Bangladesh wickets giving away 20 runs.
