Hosts Bangladesh beat ICC associate member-cum-World Cup playing United Arab Emirates by four wickets in their first official warm-up match at the Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah Wednesday ahead of its ICC World Twenty20 campaign against Afghanistan Sunday, reports UNB.
The Bengal Tigers will play their 2nd and last official warm-up match against Ireland tomorrow (Friday) at the same venue.
Batting first after winning the toss, UAE, which returned to the world-level cricket after playing in the 1996 ICC World Cup, scored a moderate 142 runs for 7 wickets in stipulated 20 overs.
Skipper cum one down Khurram Khan contributed the team highest 44 runs off 35 balls with six fours. Opener Faizar Ali scored 22-ball 31 runs with five fours and a six while Amjad Ali and Shaiman Anwar made 19 runs each.
Forhad Reza grabbed two wickets for 25 runs while Abdur Razzak, Rubel Hossain, Mahmudullah Riyad and Al Amin Hossain took one wicket each.
In reply, hosts Bangladesh reached their target scoring 146 runs for 6 in 18.5 overs with opener Tamim Iqbal scoring 43 runs off 30 balls that featured six fours and a six.
Besides, lower order Mahmudullah contributed an unbeaten 29 runs off 18 balls with five fours, captain Mushfiqur Rahim scored 20-ball 27 runs with five fours, middle order Nasir Hossain made 23-ball 15 runs with a six while lower order Forhad Reza made not out 14 runs off seven balls with two fours.
AM Guruge and Amjad Javed took two wickets each for 25 runs each.
