Beckham leaves SuperLiga final with knee injury

LOS ANGELES, Aug 30 (AFP): England midfielder David Beckham, already battling an ailing ankle, left his Los Angeles Galaxy's SuperLiga final against Pachuca of Mexico Wednesday with a knee injury.
Despite lingering soreness in his left ankle, which has troubled Beckham since he arrived at the Major League Soccer club in July, Beckham started the final in the inaugural edition of the multi-million- dollar US-Mexico club tournament.
But Beckham was forced to leave the game in the 30th minute, after he and Pachuca midfielder Fernando Salazar collided violently and both players left the game with knee injuries.
Officials later described Beckham's injury as a right knee sprain.
